Supporting and Expanding Icelandic HPC and AI Competencies
IHPC Mission
The EuroCC-supported National Competence Center (NCC) Icelandic High-Performance Computing (IHPC) serves as the hub for Iceland's HPC community, which includes experts in Artificial Intelligence (AI). IHPC's initiatives unite Iceland's national specialists and link with a European network of NCCs focused on HPC and AI. This collaboration offers a diverse range of services tailored to meet the unique requirements of industry, academia, and public sectors in Iceland.
EuroCC NCCs
The National Competence Centres (NCCs) are the central points of contact for HPC and related technologies in their country.
Their missions are to:
- Develop and display a comprehensive and transparent map of HPC competences and institutions in their country
- Act as a gateway for industry and academia to providers with suitable expertise or relevant projects, may that be national or international
- Collect HPC training offers in their country and display them in a central place together with international training offers collected by other NCCs
- Foster the industrial uptake of HPC
IHPC Community Members
The NCC Iceland consists of a variety of Simulation and Data Labs (SDLs) that offer their expertise, skillset, and specific application community knowledge within NCC Iceland to interested national and international collaborators. All of those labs use HPC, HPDA, or AI in one form or another.
NCC Iceland Major Competencies
The core competencies of NCC Iceland are providing expertise in specific areas of science and engineering in a large variety of High Performance Computing, High Performance Data Aanalytics and Artificial Intelligence application fields. Nevertheless, a selection of six more major competencies of NCC Iceland have been identified with the help of the CASTIEL project shown below.
