Breaking Bias

As the prominence of AI continues to grow, ensuring its design and usability align with inclusivity becomes increasingly imperative. Notably, AI and LLMs have exhibited inherent biases. In this workshop, we invite students and new graduates to participate in an AI-themed prize task, shedding light on the biases inherent in AI models and exploring avenues for enhancing their utility.

This event is organized by WomenTechIceland in collaboration with ADA, the association of female students in computer science at the University of Iceland, and /sys/tur, the corresponding association at Reykjavík University, and will take place on the University of Iceland campus. The event is sponsored by the EDIH Iceland at the Computer Science Department at Reykjavík University and IHPC at the Computer Science Department at the University of Iceland. The winning solution will receive a prize sponsored by Origo. Registration is free, and we warmly welcome students and recent graduates of all genders to participate.

Attendees will need to bring their own computers to the event but free versions of AI tools will be used.

A prize, sponsored by Origo, will be awarded to the most exemplary solution presented. Food and drinks provided during the event.

The event will be in person and take place at the University of Iceland, in rooms HT103 and HT105
